If you find them so endearing, I intend to return to the island sometime in the near future. I plan to check on the colonies I know of, and see if they've managed to survive the eruption without anything terrible befalling them.

The man he's named after was someone I knew a few years ago. No one you would have reason to know.

[Garista of the fursnake variety seems to have realized that he is, in some capacity, being spoken about, and as such he stops with the irritated noises and just kind of looks up at Alexei and offers a little chirping noise, tilting its head a bit.]

..If the Roaka have a ceremony centered around it, that volcano must erupt regularly. The fact that there are colonies at all on that island implies that they probably know what to do and where to go when it explodes like that.

They're probably fine. But I want to check for myself.
