[Oh, here we go! A lovely-looking little group that are probably going to start screaming the moment he opens his mouth because that has definitely happened before.]
Ja, of course!
[He'll take a moment to cut up the fruit he's brought with him before approaching, kneeling a good distance away and setting a piece down before backing up a bit.]
I'm sure you'll find it quite enjoyable; it's not from around here, but trust me, you'll like it!
[Naturally he's talking to the lorbies at full volume, and Yeager doesn't exactly have an indoor voice.]
[You know, Alexei was fine with this until Yeager started actually approaching the things? At which point that actually got a moderately confused and vaguely alarmed look to cross his face for the briefest moment because wait what where are you going-
Aaaaand now we've got a completely unfamiliar and very very loud thing approaching and setting stuff down and moving a lot, and the snakes are going to be very, very wary of this and looking like they're winding up to scream, dear god...]
...Yeager, I'd quite like to retain consciousness today, so don't say anything and move back...
[He knows, he knows, just... Give them a moment and they'll calm down once you're out of the aggro zone; they're simple creatures, they'll come at least look at the fruit once they are satisfied that the loud thing is no longer being loud and is in fact a more respectable distance away.
Alexei is just...going to kneel on the ground again, settling back on his heels with Dein Nomos out and across his lap. It's shiny, and so is the apatheia in it, and the snakes tend to pay attention to shiny once they notice it.
When he speaks to Yeager his voice is even and relatively quiet.]
Well done, that actually wasn't completely terrible; I'm almost impressed.
[...he is probably fucking with you, but it is true that it wasn't completely terrible.]
He'll remain where he is, watching Alexei closely as he tries to work out exactly what he's doing differently. The answer seems to catch him by surprise though, and he tips his head a bit.]
I'm too loud?
[...Thankfully, he does remember to keep his voice down, but of all things...]
[Mm. He'll take out some more fruit and start cutting it against the blade; a bit more to keep the scent of it going can't hurt.]
Remember that they don't understand words. That's likely why Garista got so upset when we were talking about the Roaka - it wasn't what was being said, it was that it was loud and angry. I never speak like that around him.
[He isn't looking at either Yeager or the snakes, just focusing on what he's doing.]
They're also very low to the ground, and they don't recognize you. So, really, you're a very tall, loud creature approaching them from out of nowhere, shrieking the whole way. I can't say I fault them for shrieking right back.
It was good of you to get on the ground with them, and to keep your distance from them. As I said, not completely terrible. Just remain quiet and patient and let them come to you. Perhaps one of them will decide to eventually.
[To be fair, he only realized those two the hard way, but at least he kind of learned...]
I suppose I hadn't really thought about it like that.
[So tone and volume, got it. Patience isn't a problem, of course.
He'll move after a moment, coming closer to Alexei and then kneeling nearby. He's not too close to either Alexei or the fursnakes, and he's staying away from their food as well. And also the pointy end of your sword there. You know, just in case.]
Is this something that helps as well or is this just part of being patient?
It's a bit of both, I think. It was also good of you to cut it here instead of doing it beforehand; I've found it gets their attention. Maybe it's the scent of it, I wouldn't really know.
If they come into this area you should try putting more fruit on the ground a decent distance away. Cut up more whenever what you currently have seems dry. Make sure it sees you set it down.
[He'll take that advice to heart, though. He just really wants to befriend one of these really dumb things, okay...
Anyway, he'll remain quiet and patiently sitting, just watching Alexei and occasionally looking over at the fursnakes to see their reactions. It looks like some of them are getting more comfortable, at least; we don't have to worry about them screaming right now.]
How long did it take you to get Garista to come with you?
They're easily scared when they're not angry. It isn't as though we can simply grab one and leave with it.
Garista seems to be doing well enough now that he's decided to stay, but he didn't always know what to think of me when I first brought him back, either. It may take some time.
He was hiding. I have something set up beneath the bed so he can hide there if he wants; I didn't mind as long as he was out of the way and not being a pest about it.
He never seemed to dislike me enough to make noise at me. Outside of the usual, anyway.
The snakes are doing fine! They're shifting a bit like they're considering coming closer, but most of them stay where they are.
And then this majestic beast pokes her(?) head out from the bushes and slithers her way over to the fruit nearest to her. She(?) daintily takes a bite out of it, all while keeping an eye on both of us.
There really isn't a reaction to this that isn't "oh my god"]
[The other fursnakes are making noises and shuffling about awkwardly, like they aren't really sure what to make of this still while she goes for piece #2, either completely unafraid or just really liking the fruit. She's still not taking her eyes off of us, but she's not making warning noises either so this is probably a good thing, maybe??]
[He's not going to make a move to touch or anything, but he looks very excited.
She's paying less attention to him and more to Alexei, waiting for more food. She isn't all that patient though, because she'll start making noises after a moment, though it doesn't sound like she's going to start shrieking.]

oh all right fine, he'll actually shut up and back away quietly
it's probably a good thing you're here because he'd prefer not to be unconscious but c'mon...]

Keep it down if you don't want to upset them.

[The... cutting the fruit thing.]

[To be honest it was only because he forgot to cut it beforehand... But that works.]
It looks like you've got their attention, at least. How long does it take for them to come over?
no subject
[He shrugs a little.]

no subject
[...It's something he hadn't stated at the time because let's be real you would have teased him like hell for it.]
no subject
Well, I can see why you said patience is required!
[It takes a lot of effort to refrain from teasing you......]

[garista...tries, um
how are the snakes doing over there, incidentally, are they still reasonably chill]

[He kind of loves it, honestly.

Look at the coloring on that one!
[IT'S SO IMPRACTICAL, IT'S WONDERFUL]

[alexei-
That said, though, that thing is weirdly precious?? Even if the coloration is kind of. wow.]

[...Or maybe it just likes free food, who knows.]
no subject
[no seriously, can he please have this one, he loves it....
Anyway, the pink fursnake will keep approaching for food, she'll(?) even get right up near us once she's(?) eaten everything that's been laid out.]
no subject
She doesn't seem to mind you, at any rate.
[so cute...]
I take it we're not leaving without this one.
