[The place is...well, it's small but it's meticulously well-organized; the room you've entered into does have its share of weird carpentry, the furniture is a little unorthodox, but it all works well enough. It's not welcoming, per se, but nothing about him really is; it's probably better described as functional.

...There's also a loft up to the right of the entrance. Presumably he sleeps up there. Garista is currently putting bits of peach in his face, but once in a while he can be seen sitting up and looking over with his ears pricked up like he is trying to see what's going on.

I can't imagine what they were thinking! It's so strange to me that they'd even consider something like that appropriate for outsiders to witness, much less how many of us could have been injured! I don't understand it at all.

They're strange people; I'm sure they'll try to cite cultural differences. Which sounds largely like a way to blame us for not anticipating that what they summoned us for would be exactly that.

[He's...actually pretty mad about this? He isn't yelling, his voice actually isn't raised at all, but there's a definite sharpness to his tone that implies that he's barely keeping everything in check.]

Honestly, I don't think anyone could have been prepared for that. Even if you assumed the worst - which no one had any reason to! - I doubt anyone could have predicted something like that. Blaming us for it is just ridiculous!

Of course it is. But it's either that or admit they were either so stupid or so lacking in self-awareness that they didn't think to warn us that their damn ceremony involved killing people with active explosions.

And they certainly won't do that! No apologies, no "sorry we almost got you all killed and probably traumatized at least a few of you", nothing! How exceptionally rude to assume a group of strangers would be okay with something so dreadful!

And of course no one here will speak against the Roaka as a whole, because "they didn't know" or "they seem to mean well."

[It's acidic, vitriolic, though he's still not openly yelling or losing composure; just the same, Garista can be seen looking over and down from the bed in the loft, peach either finished or abandoned for the time being in favor of trying to see what's going on. Because you guys are making lots of noise and he isn't sure what's being said, but you all sound Mad and he's not sure if you're fighting or not.]

Yes, precisely! It doesn't matter that they put us through something like that without so much as a warning because they've been helpful and kind and didn't attack us on sight or some other nonsense. They'll twist what happened around until it isn't the Roakas' fault at all - perhaps even until it was our fault!

Seeing as I haven't heard reports of a large number of us dying yet, I imagine most will want to forgive this under the notion that there was no harm done in the end.

Naturally! I wouldn't be surprised if the whole incident is forgotten about in a month or so, as though it never really mattered in the first place.

Such things usually are. If we see them again later it will be mentioned to the newcomers, but only as an afterthought, and likely presented as some kind of misunderstanding.

[He's still tense, and he's still really mad about this if he's honest, but all of this seems to be calming him down in some way? There's less barely-handled anger behind everything, at least; still some agitation, but less...all of that.]

But surely that's fine, because they were receptive to trade with us. I'm certain that Asgore at least is going to continue to insist that they're good people, blindly trusting fool that he is.

[...Garista, meanwhile, is still up there kind of vibrating a lot because he was told to go to bed and he understands that he's supposed to stay there until told to do otherwise, but as far as he's concerned this weird loud person has come into the house and now things aren't okay, so logically the house probably needs defending even though he was sent upstairs.

So, naturally, he's just going to have to defend the house from up here.

The initial scream is...impressively loud in an enclosed space, actually, and it gets Alexei to startle a bit before he turns to figure out what the fuck- ]

Probably so - it isn't as though he understands many words. I think the most he comprehends is his name, occasionally my name, and a handful of commands that I've taught him. He likely doesn't know what's going on.

[The snake seems to take a moment to deliberate, as though trying to decide how brave he feels like being - screaming from the bed in the loft is one thing, actually approaching is another entirely, and he is suddenly not sure this is a good idea? Oh god oh man.

He'll come down eventually, though, eyeing Yeager suspiciously and coming to coil up...more behind Alexei than alongside but you know what, it's an attempt. This is an acceptable place to be brave from, however, and it's going to be emitting noises that, uh... Well, they might be attempts at growling but they come off more like weird murring noises that are trying very hard to be threatening and falling well short of actually being threatening.]

...He really doesn't seem fond of you, does he.
